Postdoctoral Associate in Intersectional Feminist STS at Yale University

We are seeking a postdoctoral associate in intersectional feminist Science and Technology Studies. Preferred focus areas: critical computing/artificial intelligence studies; labor and automation technologies; medicine/alternative medicine; chronic illness and/or disability studies.

Required: 

  • Applicants must hold or receive a Ph.D. in a relevant field before the start of the appointment. Ph.D. must have been received within the last three years.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative research projects, preferred to be multidisciplinary.
  • Strong writing skills demonstrated by first-authored peer-reviewed journal papers or peer-reviewed conference proceedings papers.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications include

  • Experience conducting qualitative research; experience with in-depth interviews on sensitive topics particularly welcome. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary research teams. 
  • Background knowledge of data science and/or AI technologies; or of medicine/health disparities scholarship
  • Further referred but not required background: statistical and survey methods, qualitative interviewing, and proficiency with Qualtrix or similar software or interest in acquiring it.

Responsibilities include

  • Working in collaborative lab-style environment with a project manager and graduate student and undergraduate researchers on PI grant projects.
  • Sharing in lab manager duties including occasional mentorship, training, and oversight of junior researchers.
  • Assisting with planning conferences related to research topics.
  • Potential to co-author papers, including white papers and peer-reviewed publications, with research team.
  • Participating in STS community events at Yale.

This position is for one year, renewable for a second year pending administrative approval. Salary range is $68,000-70,000.

The start date is flexible with an aim for August 1, 2026.
