The appointee must submit an Annual IDP Report prior to reappointment. Please note that a Faculty Mentor should meet with their Postdoc six to eight weeks prior to the date of reappointment to complete the IDP.

IDP Submission to Reappoint YSM Postdoc - Please use the following steps:
- Change file name to last name_first name_IDP.pdf
- Email the form as an attachment to upload.IDP.ncj7g92esdodicc0@u.box.com.

No email message is necessary as the form will load directly into our filing system.

- Update the academic appointment using the Academic: Managing Appointments guide. Use Reason Code “Standard Reappointment with Compensation Change.’ This is the only code that will trigger the next step.
- Request a compensation change using the Manage Compensation (Academic) guide. Use Reason Code ‘Academic Reappointment.’ Follow the postdoc compensation scale published annually. (Postdoctoral fellows only). Submit updated proof of health insurance and proof of external funding to Postdoctoral Affairs if the appointee does not receive insurance or funding through Yale.
Maximum Term of Postdoctoral Appointments
Individuals generally hold postdoctoral appointments at Yale University for no longer than four years, although extensions may be granted in exceptional cases. The total term of postdoctoral appointments may not exceed six years, including previous postdoctoral experience at other institutions. To request a 5th or 6th year, please email your request with a justification from the faculty mentor to postdoc.affairs@yale.edu.

Submit a postgraduate reappointment application with an updated CV to Postdoctoral Affairs.
Note: Postgrad extension requests of less than one month do not require a formal application. To request an extension of less than 1 month, please email your request to postdoc.affairs@yale.edu including:
- A brief justification for the extension.
- The duration of the requested extension.
