Below are non-faculty appointment types that are administered by other offices at Yale and not by the Office for Postdoctoral Affairs. 

Minors in the Lab

To appoint a minor (students between the ages of 16 and 18), please visit http://provost.yale.edu/faculty/policy/minors-in-labs.  Minors are appointed through the Office of the Provost or the Dean’s Office in the professional schools.

Visiting undergraduates (VSRs)

To appoint a non-Yale undergraduate, please visit http://provost.yale.edu/faculty/policy/visiting-students-in-labs.  Undergraduates are appointed as Visiting Students in Research (VSR) through the Office of the Provost or the Dean’s Office in the professional schools.

Visiting graduate students (VARs)

To appoint a non-Yale graduate student, please visit https://gsas.yale.edu/admissions/non-degree-program-application-process/visiting-students  Graduate students are appointed as Visiting Assistants in Research (VAR) through the Graduate School.  [Exception: Visiting graduate students to the School of Medicine may be appointed as postgraduate fellows or associates.]
