Full-time paid post-graduate associate training position in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. The position is for 1 or 2 years. The start date is flexible but can begin immediately.
The Aneja Lab is focused on the application of machine learning techniques to improve cancer outcomes. Specifically, we employ machine learning techniques on a variety of clinical data streams (diagnostic/pathologic imaging data, EHR data, audio data) to predict cancer outcomes and guide treatment. A large focus of our research group is in the area of deep learning. We currently have projects in collaboration with both public/private sector partners in the areas of image analysis, natural language processing, and information technology.
Location:
The Aneja Lab is located on 195 Church Street, 6th Floor, New Haven, CT.
Education:
The appointee will learn about clinical oncology and clinical radiation oncology. Additionally, the appointee will be taught the application of machine learning techniques to analyze healthcare data. The appointee will also learnthe fundamentals of clinical informatics and different medical data formats (DICOM ect).
Training:
The appointee will receive training in project-relevant coding languages (Python, Keras, Tensorflow, Pytorch, STATA). Additionally, she will receive training on the implementation of machine learning techniques for data analysis (deep learning, random forest modeling, support vector machine models, parametric and semi-parametric regression techniques).
Mentoring:
The appointee will have direct mentorship from Dr. Aneja through weekly meetings. The appointee will also interact regularly with postdocs, medical students, and residents within Dr. Aneja’s laboratory.
This training, education, and mentorship are granted with the intention of enhancing her ability to contribute to the Aneja Lab research projects over the course of her appointment and to develop impactful research throughout her career in academic medicine.
Candidates should be highly organized, self-motivated, hard-working, and reliable, with good interpersonal and communication skills. Must have good attention to detail and problem-solving skills, and be able to perform both independently as well as in a team setting.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. No previous research experience is required.
