Please explore our website for information and resources to help you get started. We also regularly share upcoming events and professional development courses in our weekly newsletter (NEED THE LINK FOR THE NEWSLETTER).
Professional Development
The National Postdoctoral Association has identified six core competencies to guide your career and professional development:
- Discipline-specific conceptual knowledge
- Research skill development
- Communication skills
- Professionalism
- Leadership and management skills
- Responsible conduct of research
While your research experience and your mentor will help you to advance in the first two areas, we strongly recommend that you also invest time in developing the remaining competencies. Our office and many others at Yale organize events throughout the year to assist you in your professional development. Explore the links below, and read our weekly email newsletter for a compendium of upcoming events.
Yale Postdoc Associations
In addition to resources through the Office for Postdoc Affairs and other Yale units, the Yale Postdoctoral Association and Yale Black Postdoctoral Association are important resources for postdocs at Yale to support their professional development and their sense of belonging.
