We are recruiting highly motivated and rigorous postdoctoral scholars in Kaitlin Schaefer’s lab in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis at Yale School of Medicine.
The Schaefer lab is a highly interdisciplinary, chemical biology group focused on understanding and modulating the molecular interactions between human:bacterial cells. We seek postdoctoral candidates excited to work at the intersection of microbiology and human cell signaling using a range of leading-edge chemical biology and proteomic tools, structural biology, and immunology. We are interested in the particular areas of glycans that serve as signaling cues in innate immunity and a range of diseases, including metabolic disorders, inflammation, and cancer. We are also interested in understanding and engineering secreted, extracellular cues shared between human and neighboring bacterial cells.
We invite candidates with expertise in chemistry, chemical biology, and biomedical sciences to apply. We are broadly looking for chemists with synthetic organic chemistry expertise or mass spectrometry expertise (both small molecule and proteomic characterization) who are excited about biological mechanisms. We are also seeking chemical biologists with strong backgrounds in protein biochemistry, membrane protein signaling, and protein conjugations. Furthermore, the Schaefer lab is a young group, and we seek individuals who are highly collaborative and interested in mentoring.
To apply, please email kaitlin.schaefer@yale.edu with your CV, a brief description of your scientific background, and your scientific interests related to the Schaefer Lab.
