Introduction to the School/Department: 

Dr. Siba Haykal, MD, PhD FRCSC FACS, is seeking in The Yale Department of Surgery is a world-leader in the field of transplantation. We have a funded position and are looking for an experienced surgeon to work in our laboratory starting ASAP. 

The PDA will take a leading role in a basic science project involving human and animal tissue for Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation. The project requires expert surgical skills with a possibility of some subprojects related to microsurgery. The PDA will work at Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery. The project focuses on regenerative medicine techniques and immunology. Any previous experience in histology, immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry would be considered an asset. The PDA will be invited to participate in departmental conferences and educational activities. This position will culminate with multiple manuscripts published on which the PDA will be an author. The PDA will have a budget for attending conferences to present their work. Other opportunities for basic and translational research also exist and are focused on animal models for lymphedema and medical device development. 

Overview of the Position

Education/Training/Mentoring: 

The PI, lab associates and close colleagues (faculty and fellows) will provide training to the postdoctoral candidate. Additional safety training is provided by Yale’s training programs, including EHS and others, as applicable. 

The candidate will participate in regular meetings with Dr. Haykal, get invited to seminars of relevance in addition to being able to select from large lectures (several a week). Seminars and lectures are offered by surgery, the medical school, biological, and medical science departments.

The candidate will have the opportunity to attend national meetings and present data.

Location: 

Yale Medical School, Brady Memorial Lab

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in medical, biological, chemical science, preferably

  • Experience in previous laboratory skills are preferable including experience in surgery, histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence
