Postdoctoral Position in Neuronal Metabolism - Colón-Ramos Laboratory, Departments of Neuroscience and Cell Biology -Yale University

The Colón-Ramos Lab (Yale University, Departments of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, Wu Tsai Institute) seeks an exceptional Postdoctoral Associate to study the cell biology of energy metabolism in neurons and in vivo. Our group makes use of metabolic biosensors and behavior in C. elegans to uncover how neuronal energy states are distributed across cells and tissues, and how this distribution regulates circuit function and behavior in animals.

Recent publications from our laboratory have revealed novel principles of neuronal metabolism, including the local and dynamic regulation of glycolysis in vivo (Wolfe et al., PNAS 2024) and the discovery that neurons employ glycogen to sustain glycolytic plasticity and synaptic function (Singh et al., PNAS 2025). These studies establish C. elegans as a powerful system for dissecting the interplay between the cell biological distribution of metabolism, neuronal identity, and behavior.

We now invite applications from highly motivated scientists to build on these foundations to uncover how the cell biological distribution of neuronal metabolic states link to synaptic plasticity, circuit function, and behavior by integrating novel biosensors, genetics, and systems-level analyses to uncover principles of neuronal energy regulation in vivo.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, or related fields.
  • Strong record of research productivity (publications, presentations).
  • Previous experience in metabolism considered an asset.
  • Creativity, independence, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary science.

Environment:

The Colón-Ramos Lab fosters a collaborative, inclusive environment and is embedded within Yale’s vibrant neuroscience community at the Wu Tsai Institute. Fellows will have access to world-class imaging facilities, computational support, and cross-disciplinary mentorship.

Application:

Send a CV, statement of research interests (2 pages max), and names of three referees to colonramoslabhiring@gmail.com. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
