Title of the Position: Postgraduate Associate Position in Xu Lab

This is a full-time, ON-SITE position.
Start Date: August 2025 – June 2026 (some flexibility in dates)
Introduction: The Department of Biomedical Informatics & Data Science (BIDS) is a new department at the intersection of health sciences and information technology. It develops new approaches to organize and analyze biomedical and healthcare data to promote health for all. Position Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified postgraduate trainee to join the project team. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of researchers in the Xu lab. More information about the lab can be found here: https://clinicalnlp.org/. Postgraduate appointments at Yale are for one year with the possibility of a one-year renewal.
Qualifications: An MS degree is required. A background in computer programming, whether through formal Computer Science training or applied experience is required. This individual should have experience in Python programming including experience with the Pytorch library and running deep learning models.
We are looking for organized, enthusiastic applicants who work well in a team and can quickly pick up new topics.
The Xu Lab provides many opportunities for postgraduates, including:
Education: The postgraduate associate will gain knowledge and experience in natural language processing, machine learning and deep learning methods, and the responsible conduct of research.
Training: The candidate will receive training in implementing advanced machine learning and deep learning models, and NLP algorithms and running these models on high performance GPU computing clusters. The training will also provide knowledge about the recent advances in large language models.
Mentoring: The postgraduate associate will be mentored by faculty members and work closely with post docs and PhD students in Dr. Xu’s lab. They will participate in weekly research group meetings and have access to career development mentoring experiences.
