Overview of the Position:
The Organizational Behavior (OB) group at Yale SOM anticipates hiring full-time postgraduate associates. The positions will begin in the Summer of 2025 and are one-year commitments with the possibility of renewal. This position would be an excellent fit for someone looking to strengthen their research skills before applying to PhD programs in psychology, sociology, and/or organizational behavior.

The candidate would support a subset of OB faculty (some faculty may include Beth Anne Helgason, David Munguia Gomez, Erin Frey, Jennifer Dannals, Laura Adler, and Minjae Kim) research related to the future of work, ethics, decision-making, cultural stereotypes, discrimination and inequality in the workplace.

Training/Education: The candidate will support a variety of tasks related to the research process. Specific tasks may include assisting with qualitative and quantitative data collection, cleaning quantitative datasets, hand-coding data, constructing variables, conducting data analysis, visualizing and summarizing data, preparing annotated reproducible code, maintaining research records, training other lab members, and writing and preparing manuscripts.

Mentoring: The candidate will have opportunities to contribute to ongoing collaborative projects, as well as participate in the broader intellectual community at Yale SOM and Yale. The associate will work under the supervision of the Senior Associate Director of Initiative on Leadership & Organization (ILO) and the Yale School of Management OB faculty.

Location: All positions are based on-campus, in New Haven, CT. The postgraduate associate will have access to desk/workspace in one of the Yale School of Management buildings on Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT.

Start Date & Term: The position begins summer 2025, although other start dates may be negotiable. The position lasts for one year with an option to renew for a second year by mutual agreement by the faculty supervisor(s) and the fellow. Salary will be competitive starting at $60,000 with similar programs at other institutions, and the position includes standard benefits such as health insurance. The University will sponsor visas for accepted international candidates.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, behavioral science, statistics, behavioral economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with statistical tools and languages such as R, SPSS, Stata, and Python.
  • Knowledge of experimental research design, descriptive and inferential statistics, and data visualization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of project staff, from research assistants to faculty, and respond to day-to-day email communication promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and manage multiple research projects.
  • Central interest in the study of organizational behavior, psychology, sociology, or a related discipline, and interest in the research conducted by one or more of the faculty.
