Yale provides a range of educational, cultural, social and networking events/programs to the Yale Postdoc community to foster a greater awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion.
The Accommodation Program facilitates individual accommodations for current or prospective Yale postdocs with disabilities. A designated case manager from the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs works with each postdoc or application who chooses to identify and document a disability in order to determine the appropriate accommodation.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) collaborates with departments and individuals across the Yale campus to promote a respectful, accessible and inclusive community for all Yale employees.
Since 2005 Yale has invested in the development of affinity groups or employee resource groups. Each of the eight affinity groups support recruitment, retention, education, advocacy, and community building.
Yale Minority Scientist Research Network
The Yale Minority Scientist Research Network (YMSRN) was started by minority students in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Yale University with the goal of creating an interactive environment amongst minority graduate students. The group extends to minority post-docs and faculty. Those participating in the YMSRN are encouraged to participate in monthly meetings that are designed to foster community among, share academic interests, and provide resources for minorities who are pursuing careers in the biomedical sciences.
