The Qingyu Chen Lab at Yale School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our research program in AI in medicine, based in the Department of Biomedical Informatics & Data Science.
About the Lab
Our research focuses on the development, evaluation, and trustworthy use of AI in medicine. We work across language, imaging, and multimodal health data, with particular interests in biomedical NLP and medical LLMs, multimodal and foundation models, ophthalmology and medical imaging AI, and real-world applications in biomedicine and healthcare. Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- a PhD in computer science, biomedical informatics, or a related field
- demonstrated awareness of privacy, security, and research compliance when working with health-related data
- a strong research record in AI in medicine, especially in natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), agents, or related areas
- solid programming and experimental skills
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
The following experience is particularly valuable:
- familiarity with clinical data and common data models
- exposure to multiple health data modalities
Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Associate will:
- lead research projects in AI in medicine, especially in LLMs and agents, and contribute to broader lab initiatives
- prepare manuscripts and assist with grant applications or reports
- collaborate across technical and clinical domains
- co-mentor students and other trainees as appropriate

Salary
Salary will be offered at the compensation levels outlined by the Office for Postdoctoral Affairs, according to the cumulative years of postdoctoral experience.
