Reappointments

Postdoctoral Associates and Fellows

  1. The appointee must submit an Annual IDP Report prior to reappointment.
    • Please note that a Faculty Mentor should meet with their Postdoc six to eight weeks prior to the date of reappointment to complete the IDP. Following its completion, departments can submit the report to postdoc. affairs@yale.edu
  2. Update the academic appointment using the Academic: Managing Appointments guide. Use Reason Code “Standard Reappointment with Compensation Change.’ This is the only code that will trigger the next step.  
  3. Request a compensation change using the Manage Compensation (Academic) guide. Use Reason Code ‘Academic Reappointment.’ Follow the postdoc compensation scale published annually.
  4. (Postdoctoral fellows only). Submit updated proof of health insurance and proof of external funding to Postdoctoral Affairs if the appointee does not receive insurance or funding through Yale.

Postgraduate Associates and Fellows

  1. Submit an updated postgraduate application to Postdoctoral Affairs.
  2. If the application is approved, update the academic appointment using the Academic: Managing Appointments guide. Use Reason Code “Standard Reappointment with Compensation Change.’ This is the only code that will trigger the next step.
  3. Request a compensation change using the Manage Compensation (Academic) guide. Use Reason Code ‘Academic Reappointment.’
  4. (Postgraduate fellows only). Submit updated proof of health insurance and proof of external funding to Postdoctoral Affairs if the appointee does not receive insurance or funding through Yale.

Visiting Fellows and Laboratory Associates

  1. Submit an updated Visiting Fellow/Laboratory Associate application (Central or YSM) to Postdoctoral Affairs. Central Campus only: submit an updated CV, proof of health insurance, and proof of external funding along with the VF/LA application).
  2. (YSM only) If the application is approved, submit an updated CV, proof of health insurance, and proof of external funding to Postdoctoral Affairs.
  3. Update the academic appointment using the Academic: Managing Appointments guide.  Use Reason Code ‘Standard Reappointment.’

Leaves of Absence

Submit a Leave Form to Postdoctoral Affairs prior to initiating a leave of absence.  Please refer to our Postdoctoral Policies for more details regarding postdoctoral leaves.
